Alabama Fan Calls Into CSPAN Inauguration Coverage To Complain About The Crimson Tide Not Making The College Football Playoff

Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer

Alabama fans are just built different. Today is a big day in the United State of America. We've got a Presidential Inauguration, MLK Day, and the championship game of one of our country's best athletic exports: college football. It's only right that all three of those things came together in a weird, fever-dream of a phone call featured on CSPAN (Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network). Earlier this morning, as the inauguration coverage was still in full swing, someone called into the American non profit TV network, which was created in 1979 by the cable television industry and covers U.S. Political events. They apparently trust anyone that wants to call into their network, because they accidentally let one person go on a rant about Alabama football earlier. This post alerted a lot of people about it: https://twitter.com/stephen_neukam/status/1881370221623308540 C-SPAN threw it over to Graham in Jersey City, New Jersey calling on the New Jersey Democrats line to hear what he had to say about the inauguration. At first, the call was to be expected - albeit a little left-leaning. That ended up being all a cover to get a hot take in about the Crimson Tide getting cheated out of a spot in the College Football Playoff: "Hi! I want to wish everyone a Happy MLK Day, hope everyone's staying warm. Disappointed in how the election turned out. I think it would have been great to see a female president inaugurated today. While I'm disappointed in the American people and their desire to see another four years of Trump, I'm a bit more disappointed in the selection committee for not picking Alabama for the College Football Playoff finals. Instead they picked inferior teams like SMU and Indiana. Truly dark times in America." https://twitter.com/RedditCFB/status/1881412414312513830 Hilarious. Though I don't think Alabama really deserved a spot in the playoff. But that's for another time and another place (and Bama kind of proved that by losing to Michigan in their bowl game). All that really matters is that some Alabama fan - or at least someone posing as one - absolutely stole the show on Donald Trump's big day. Anyone that was listening must have thought that they had unintentionally switched it over from C-SPAN to the SEC Network. Props to the nonprofit network for letting "Graham" get most of his Alabama take out on air before cutting him off. The guy finishing his purposefully misplaced rant with "truly dark times in America" is deserving of a chef's kiss as well. Social media certainly agreed:
