![Jackson Mahomes Returns To TikTok To Say Goodbye & Suddenly People Are Fine With It Being Banned]()
![Jackson Mahomes]()
Maybe this whole TikTok ban isn't so bad after all.
We're in the final days before a law is set to go into effect that would effectively ban TikTok in the United States, after President Joe Biden signed a law last year that would require parent company ByteDance to sell the site to a US company.
The law was passed due to privacy concerns over ByteDance's sharing of user information and data with China and the Chinese communist party. But creators are losing their minds and desperately trying to find a way to save the app from being forced to shut down.
Several investors have expressed interest in purchasing TikTok, though it doesn't sound like ByteDance really has any interest in selling. And this morning, the Supreme Court upheld the law forcing the ban, dismissing claims from TikTok and creators that the ban was an unconstitutional restriction on free speech.
Now, do I really think TikTok will be banned on Sunday, when the law is set to go into effect? No. President Joe Biden has signaled that his administration will not enforce the ban during his final day in office, and incoming President Donald Trump has expressed interest in finding a solution to save the app - even asking the Supreme Court to pause the law from going into effect and inviting the CEO of TikTok to join him at his inauguration on Monday.
So yeah, pretty sure that TikTok isn't going anywhere.
But after seeing new videos from Jackson Mahomes pop up, a lot of people were suddenly fine with the whole site going away for good.
The cringeworthy younger brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been a polarizing figure on TikTok for quite a while now. His antics, like performing a TikTok dance on top of a memorial to late Washington Commanders safety Sean Taylor and blasting a small business for not seating him when they were busy, have drawn a lot of criticism in the past.
Not to mention, he's just fucking annoying.
Jackson has actually been pretty quiet on TikTok lately, with his last post coming back in September. But ahead of the TikTok ban going into effect, he decided to return to the platform that made him famous (and I use "famous" in the loosest possible sense of the word) to say goodbye to his followers.
And yeah, it was as cringey as you'd expect.

And after seeing the video, it seems that people in the comments finally found the silver lining of the app being banned:
"Thank god tik tok is getting banned"
"You know what, ban it"
"Only good thing about the TikTok ban not seeing you"
"You know what maybe it’s for the best tiktok is banned"
"Maybe the TikTok ban is a good thing"
"The only positive thing that’ll come from the TikTok ban…."
"I want it to be gone now"
"Stay off the next apps too"
"The only good thing about tiktok getting banned is I dont have to see this guy ever again"
Tough scene. And it must especially suck for Jackson that the ban is happening as the Chiefs are in the middle of their playoff run, which is when he usually comes out to try to ride his brother's coattails and get some internet clout.
Oh well. If TikTok is really going away on Sunday, look on the bright side: No more of...whatever the hell this is.
