AJ Brown

Wide receivers are straight up a different breed of human. Quite honestly, when NFL scouts are looking for wide receiver talent, they should skip all the measurables and go straight for their mentality. Does the guy think he's the greatest to ever walk a football field? Does he wear ridiculous outfits, say unhinged things to the media, and make wild posts on social media? If so, you may have the next generational pass catching talent on your hands... I say most of this as a Steelers fan who constantly deals with wide receiver issues (among many other things, LIKE NOT WINNING A PLAYOFF GAME SINCE 2016) who longs for the days of Antonio Brown and Big Ben chucking the rock around like when the two most athletic kids in the neighborhood rigged it to be on the same team for two hand touch. Is Antonio Brown insane? Yeah, probably, and he probably always was, but my goodness the guy had the hands of a goddess. This takes us to the actions of Philadelphia Eagles' wideout AJ Brown, who made quite a splash on the internet yesterday during their first round wildcard game against the Green Bay Packers. No, it wasn't thanks to his on-field play as he finished with just one catch for ten yards, but thanks to a clip of him on the sidelines partaking in a very strange activity given he was sitting in the middle of Lincoln Financial Field while an NFL playoff game, that he was a part of, was ongoing.

AJ Brown Reads A Book?

During the third quarter of last night's game, the camera cut to AJ Brown on the Eagles sideline and everyone was pretty surprised at what they saw. He was reading a book. No, not a playbook, not a call sheet, but a full on paperback. I wish it was a different commentary crew because imagining what some of the guys, especially Kevin Harlan or Al Michaels, would have came up with for this moment is a whole lot of fun. https://twitter.com/NFLonFOX/status/1878597906321609099 Apparently it's not the first time he's had a book on the sidelines with him, which just goes to show how strange wideouts can be, but honestly I don't hate it. Could be a good way to recenter your mind, block out the distractions, and hone in on what's really important. In case you were wondering what book he was reading, it was "Inner Excellence" by Jim Murphy, and he addressed the media after the game to dispel any ideas that he was reading it because he was frustrated with his team, especially quarterback Jalen Hurts: "I figured that's what y'all probably thought. I wasn't frustrated. Why y'all always think I be frustrated? Dang, like I read a book, yeah, I like to read, so." https://twitter.com/SportsRadioWIP/status/1878613499292889212 There was a post on X that caught my attention and it sure turned out to be 100% true. https://twitter.com/Kengoallnight/status/1878601717107089410

Book AJ Brown Was Reading Goes #1 On Amazon

As of the very second I sit here writing this, "Inner Excellence", the book AJ Brown was reading on the sidelines, is sitting atop Amazon's Best Sellers list, proving that a heck of a lot of people went out and bought it in hopes of gleaning something so valuable it's worth reading in the middle of one of the biggest moments of Brown's life. https://twitter.com/andrew_mies/status/1878840643172327481 I guess I'll use this moment to get on my high horse and say that I hope this gives more people the spur they need to start reading more. I myself slack off way more than I wish I did but a New Years resolution of mine (yes, I'm lame and do them) is to read more this year and this seems like a good omen for the trend. Grab a copy for yourself (or get one from your local library for free) and shoutout to AJ Brown for making reading cool. https://twitter.com/JamesPalmerTV/status/1878628638611865725 This post contains links from our Affiliate Partners program.
