Kamala Harris Didn’t Look Happy To See Donald Trump & Barack Obama Laughing Together At President Jimmy Carter’s Funeral

Kamala Harris Barack Obama

Still a sore subject, eh? The 2024 election was historic in a lot of ways. It was only the second time in American history that a president was re-elected to a second non-consecutive term, with Donald Trump joining Grover Cleveland on the short list. And there was also the chaos surrounding the Democrat party's nominee. After his disastrous debate against Donald Trump back in June, reports started emerging that there was serious pressure from inside his own party for President Joe Biden to step down as the nominee. Well as it turns out, he did just that, reportedly after pressure from former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and former President Barack Obama. But apparently, not everyone was in agreement that Vice President Kamala Harris should take his place, with some power players favoring an open primary at the party's convention to select the nominee. Biden, however, had other plans, and in what was seen as one last middle finger to those who pushed him out, he immediately endorsed Harris as the nominee after dropping out of the race. Notably, Barack and Michelle Obama waited until nearly a week after Biden dropped out to endorse Harris, which was viewed by many as proof that they were hoping for an open convention instead of simply crowning Harris the nominee from the beginning. Of course we now know that may have been the best strategy, after President Donald Trump defeated Harris and will be inaugurated as the 47th president in just under two weeks. But it appears there are still some hard feelings about how the whole thing played out... The funeral was held today for former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away December 29 at the age of 100. And in attendance were former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, as well as President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff, former Vice President Mike Pence, and President-Elect Donald Trump and future First Lady Melania Trump. And let's just say...there were some awkward moments between them. While Trump was taking his seat, he stopped to shake hands with his former Vice President Mike Pence...and it doesn't look like there's any love lost between those two: https://twitter.com/cspan/status/1877369370541764893 And it also appears that there are still some hard feelings between Biden and Harris, with even CNN noting that the greeting between the two wasn't "particularly warm." https://twitter.com/nicksortor/status/1877375883150856428 But in one of the most awkward moments of the entire ceremony, Obama and Trump were seen chatting and laughing together ahead of the service. https://twitter.com/remarks/status/1877375078733639945 Harris, though, didn't look too happy when she turned around and saw them exchanging pleasantries: https://twitter.com/HowardMortman/status/1877371147114664244 Probably gonna need a big bottle of wine tonight after this is all over. Of course there were also plenty of people who pointed out that just a couple of months ago, Obama was calling Trump a "threat to democracy," and now the two are yukking it up together while Harris is just left to sit and seethe by herself. But that's just the nature of politics: Say what you have to say to get elected, but behind the scenes everybody's friends. Well, everybody except Trump and Pence. And Harris and Biden. Ok, maybe they all really do hate each other.
