Saints Star Cam Jordan Makes $25K Donation To New Orleans New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund

Cam Jordan

New Orleans Saints star Cam Jordan doing what he can to help. On the morning of New Year's Day around 3 A.M. – mere hours after many rang in the new year on Bourbon Street -  tragedy struck. A terrorist drove a truck into a crowd of people that were still celebrating the holiday, killing 14 and injuring dozens of others. After the suspect crashed into what appears to be a construction lift, it’s being reported that the person got out of the truck and engaged with New Orleans police that were stationed there in anticipation of the New Year’s celebration. Two officers suffered gunshot wounds before the terror suspect was killed by the police. The investigation into the attack is still ongoing, but the suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who was flying an ISIS flag on the back of his truck. The FBI has declared the attack an act of terrorism, as you can read in their statement from New Year's Day: “This morning, an individual drove a car into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing a number of people and injuring dozens of others. The subject then engaged with local law enforcement and is now deceased. The FBI is the lead investigative agency, and we are working with our partners to investigate this as an act of terrorism.” https://twitter.com/FBINewOrleans/status/1874466884931723754?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1874466884931723754%7Ctwgr%5E3c29a98b65ee868ff8928224e4b4e88c68aaef0a%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whiskeyriff.com%2F2025%2F01%2F01%2Fnew-orleans-first-responders-praised-for-immediately-running-towards-new-years-attack%2F Just a heartbreaking way to start the new year. News of the attack started spreading quickly online, as did this video of New Orleans police officers stationed nearby the attack running towards the danger. The group of first responders didn’t hesitate once the attack took place, as you’ll see in this street view footage of the officers sprinting towards the truck while others ran away. Bourbon Street, the site of the attack, is just a short 20-minute walk away from the stadium, and is regularly a popular place for fans to hang out before and after sporting events. New Orleans Saints faithful most definitely frequent the world-famous street, and when Saints star defensive end Cam Jordan heard about the New Year's attack, he decided to donate to the New Year's Day Tragedy fund that has been organized to assist the victims and survivors of what is now being investigated as a terrorist attack. Jordan let everyone know what he contributed, and asked for others that are able to donate as well: "I am joining the Greater New Orleans Foundation and the City of New Orleans, Louisiana by donating $25,000 to the New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund to support victims of the attack. Please consider donating to assist the families of those who lost their lives and those who were severely injured." https://twitter.com/camjordan94/status/1874624197886140877 If you are interested in donating, you can do so by following this link.
