![Senator John Kennedy Promises To “Raise Fresh Hell” If The Federal Government Doesn’t Tell The Truth About New Orleans Terrorist Attack]()
![Senator John Kennedy]()
Promising to get to the bottom of this one.
Of course by now everybody's heard about the horrific terrorist attack in New Orleans early this morning, when a man drove a pickup truck into a crowd of people celebrating the new year on Bourbon Street.
After crashing, the man exited his truck and began shooting at police, who returned fire and killed the suspect.
Officials have confirmed that 10 are dead so far, with dozens more injured. And at a press conference a little while ago, the FBI confirmed that the suspect is 42-year old Shamsud Din Jabbar, an Army veteran from Texas. Law enforcement also reported that they do not believe Jabbar acted alone, and that several explosive devices were found not only in his truck but planted around the French Quarter.
Needless to say, there are still quite a few questions that are still out there, not only about the suspect and the initial attack but with the ongoing safety of New Orleans right now. Officials made the decision to postpone the Sugar Bowl, which was supposed to take place at the Caesars Superdome tonight, and it's just been reported that authorities have reportedly found surveillance footage showing three men and a woman placing explosive devices in the French Quarter.

During their press conference, officials were hesitant to give too many details so as not to jeopardize their investigation. But Senator John Kennedy, a Republican from Louisiana, took to the podium to promise the American people that they would eventually get answers about this horrific attack.
In a statement that seemed to exhibit Kennedy's frustration with how the federal government has handled prior incidents, Kennedy promised to "raise fresh hell" if officials aren't honest with the public once the investigation is complete and the threat is neutralized:
"Here's what I want to ask from the federal government: Catch these people. And then tell the American people the truth.
Now, I don't want you to tell us yet anything that's going to interfere with your investigation... But after we get to the bottom of this, they need to tell the American people the truth. And the people of New Orleans the truth...
I guess my final point is, I will promise you this: When it is appropriate and this investigation is complete, you WILL find out what happened and who is responsible, or I will raise fresh hell, and I will chase those in the federal government who are responsible for telling us what happened like they stole Christmas."
Pretty tough words from Kennedy, who isn't exactly known for holding back.
And of course there's probably a reason that he's frustrated, after we've seen so many of these incidents come and go without ever really finding out the truth. Obviously the Nashville bombing is one that comes to mind, after we never really learned the motive for the Christmas Day bombing back in 2020.
More recently there was the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump this summer, which was carried out by a 20-year old from Pennsylvania with no apparent motive, and we never really found out anything else about him or why he carried out the shooting.
Hopefully Kennedy is able to get the American people the answers they deserve about this latest attack. But with the FBI in charge, I can't say I'm very confident based on our past experiences.
