![Vintage Video Of Tiger Wood’s Caddie In The ’90s Goes Viral: “Never Knew Bocephus Caddied For Tiger”]()
![Tiger Woods]()
Golf used to be a proper sport.
What other venue in the world of sports could you have one of the GOATs of the game being assisted by a man who looks like... this? When people say the 1990's were a "simpler time," this is what they mean. This video of Tiger Woods playing in the 1990 U.S. Amateur and having his bag carried by a mountain of a mountain man is the pinnacle of golf.
Woods unfortunately didn't win the 1990 U.S. Amateur, but don't feel bad for him. He went on to win the 1991, 1992 and 1993 U.S. Junior Amateur championships, and then proceeded to three-peat at the U.S. Amateur level (1994, 1995, 1996) before he turned professional in 1996 at the age of 20. You probably already know that his pro career was littered with victories (110 to be exact).
Though I'm not sure how he didn't win the 1990 U.S. Amateur with a man like
this on carrying his bag:

First of all, it's crazy to see footage of Tiger at that young of an age. He's spent most of his life in the spotlight, but there's just nothing like seeing a pre-weight-room Tiger on the prowl. The Big Cat has always been intimidating, even at the young age of 14 in the video above.
Secondly, how did that caddie not stick with Tiger throughout his entire golfing career? Sure, Woods didn't win the U.S. Amateur in 1990 when that guy was on the bag for him, but just having that bearded man with him added that much more of an intimidation factor.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm seeing white sneakers, faded blue jeans, a straw hat, and a flannel shirt unbuttoned to a dangerous level being covered up by a caddie bib. It's quite possibly the flyest someone has ever looked on a golf course, and there's no way that he was meeting golf course wardrobe requirements.
As you might imagine, the video is now going viral online. Some people are saying that guy was the inspiration for Happy Gilmore's caddie, while others think it could have been Hillbilly Jim or Hank Williams Jr. on the bag for Tiger during the 1990 U.S. Amateur:
