‘Landman’ Fans Are Loving The Show, But Hating The Mother & Daughter Storylines

Ali Larter and Michelle Randolph

Landman just might be the hottest show on television as of right now. But that hasn't come with some divineness from fans and critics alike. We here at Whiskey Riff weren't sold on the show when it first got started. And many viewers have been quick to call out the show for some of its... let's just say awkward moments. One viral father-daughter scene from the show even prompted a Landman actress to admit she wouldn't ever say one of her lines in real life. This one to be exact: https://twitter.com/TrungTPhan/status/1858996630235807775?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1858996630235807775%7Ctwgr%5E7986fe2946009a5f8c93e294fbe1669b80f80718%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whiskeyriff.com%2F2024%2F12%2F19%2Flandman-actress-michelle-randolph-on-gross-scene-she-shared-with-billy-bob-thornton-i-will-never-be-saying-that-to-my-father%2F That being said, Taylor Sheridan's newest venture is inarguably popular. You can just look to the streaming statistics for proof of that. The ten-part series surrounding the Texas oil boom just set a streaming record for Paramount+. More than 14.9 million people have tuned in during the show’s first four weeks to watch the drama starring Billy Bob Thornton (Tommy Norris), Jon Hamm (Monty Miller) and Demi Moore (Cami Miller). Two other actresses that are attached to the series are Ali Larter - who plays the Angela, the ex-wife of Thornton's Tommy Norris character - and Michelle Randolph - who plays Ainsley, their daughter. Larter had the internet buzzing a couple of episodes into the series because people put two and two together and remembered her whipped-cream bikini scene from Varsity Blues. And Randolph has done a stellar job with her character, even though she's called to do some rather uncomfortable scenes. Though not everyone would agree with me saying that. In fact, a lot of social media discourse has revealed fans aren't that crazy about the Angela and Ainsley characters. Some people think their roles just aren't important enough to help drive the storyline forward, while others are saying that they would rather watch the likes of Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm take up more screen time. You know what they say... you can't always trust what you read on the internet. So take all of these mini-rants about Landman from social media with a grain of salt:
