![Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’ Subtly Roasts Bud Light In Latest Episode “All Roads Lead To A Hole”]()
![Billy Bob Thornton]()
Landman continues to provide viral moments.
Taylor Sheridan's other hit show,
Yellowstone, just wrapped up its five season run - if you don't count the spinoff that's set to continue the story of two main characters. For fans that are having
Yellowstone withdrawals,
Landman might be worth a shot.
The
ten-part series that tackles the ins-and-outs of the various components making up the oil industry boasts an impressive cast, with the likes of Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm and Demi Moore all playing major roles. Think of it as
Yellowstone... just with oil.
For some viewers, it’s pulling back the curtain on the oil industry for the very first time. That was part of the motivation for the show, which just set a streaming record for Paramount+. More than 14.9 million people have tuned in during the show’s first four weeks to watch the drama surrounding Texas’ oil boom.
And each week they have tuned in, viewers have been hit with viral moment after viral moment. The first one that spread like wildfire online was a
risqué father-daughter scene that was shared between Billy Bob Thornton's Tommy Norris and Michelle Randolph's Ainsley. In case you missed it, I've included it below... prepare to have your jaw dropped:

Good golly...
In addition to that scene, which really had the online world buzzing, a long
monologue eviscerating "clean energy" garnered a lot of attention on social media. Adding the fact that some fans of the show discovered that Thornton's on-screen ex-wife is
played by Ali Larter - who famously wore a whipped cream bikini in
Varsity Blues - and you've got a show chock full of grab-your-attention moments.
And Sheridan added to that long list of buzz worthy scenes this past week, as
OutKick originally pointed out. Billy Bob Thornton's character sat down in a bar to talk some business, and the show decided to take a shot at the former best selling beer known as Bud Light. You know, before the whole Bud Light Boycott caused the light beer to
lose its place atop the national sales list.
There have been many real world examples of stores and bars having trouble getting rid of the Bud Light they have in stock, and now there's a TV example as well. The server at the bar came up to the table to tell them that there was a "special on Bud Light," to which Billy Bob Thornton's character replied, "I bet you are."
Others at the table also question the "special," and though it never directly references the Bud Light Boycott and how it was triggered by transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, it's implied and understood by the audience. I'm sure Anheuser-Busch and Bud Light probably thought they were in the clear after all this time, but as Taylor Sheridan pointed out in
Landman, the Bud Light Boycott is still alive and well. The irony is that they opt for a pitcher of another Anheuser-Busch product, Michelob Ultra... Billy Bob's character Tommy Norris exclusively drinks it because he's a recovering alcoholic, and according to him, those low calorie and low alcohol Mickeys don't count. I mean, the logic is flawless, really.
