Got some anger management issues under that helmet, eh?
Ryan Blaney is one of the more laid-back, soft-spoken guys in the NASCAR Cup Series garage. Until he gets behind the wheel.
The driver of the #12 car for Team Penske (and 2023 Cup Series champion) is well-known for his fiery chatter on the team radio during races, which may unusual for such a mild-mannered guy like Blaney.
This past weekend Blaney was even threatening to murder some of his fellow competitors after getting caught up in a wreck with William Byron and Martin Truex Jr. at Darlington.

Blaney even looked like he was going to go back and take out Byron - which would have been super awkward last year when Byron was dating his sister, Erin Blaney, but apparently the two have since split. (Maybe because her boyfriend couldn't beat her brother for the championship? A "winner gets the girl" kind of thing? Who knows).

While Blaney thought better of getting his revenge on the track (which is smart because it probably would have earned him at least a points penalty if not a week off during the next race), he did have payback on his mind while venting to his team over the radio:
"It's f*cking killed. And I'm gonna go kill both motherf*ckers is what I'm gonna do."

Yikes...
Well if you listen to Blaney's radio you know that he gets fired up during the race, which isn't necessarily a bad thing coming from a fiery competitor.
But Denny Hamlin joked this week on his podcast, Actions Detrimental, that Blaney might need some anger management:
"Blaney lost his sh*t on the radio. That's a shocker.
I think he needs some therapy. I've never seen anyone so quiet in person and so wild on the radio. Never."
And Denny thinks he has an explanation for what changes when Blaney gets behind the wheel:
"He is the epitome of 'When you strap on the helmet, it cuts circulation off.'"
Sorry Denny, but as someone who likes to listen to the team radios during the race, I'm gonna have to disagree with you here: I love listening to Blaney lose his shit and keep things real.
