Texas Dad Takes Nasty Fall Off Ladder Hanging Christmas Lights, But At Least It Went Viral

Ladder Christmas lights

That's going to leave a mark. Christmas season is here, which means many husbands are being kicked outside to get the house looking prim and proper for the holiday season. Okay, let's be honest: You aren't trying to spread Christmas cheer with your outside home decor; you're trying to prove to your neighbors that you are the jolliest SOB on the block and know how to create a stunning light display. The point remains that many men are saying "Bah Humbug" when their wife asks them to tackle the task of hanging Christmas lights. While some people might spring for a professional service to come and hang up their lights, the brave souls that choose to hang their lights spend hours on end stapling light strings to their roofs or laying them over bushes. It's tedious work. If you have not yet had to climb the ladder to hang lights, take this Texas man's Ring doorbell as a cautionary tale. You might consider padding up before braving this task. A Texas man took the initiative to hang his Christmas lights himself and was doing a great job...until he had his ladder WAY too far out from his destination point. Yes, folks, you know where this is going. This poor man took a huge tumble. I hate to say I saw this coming from a mile away, but before the video starts, you know this doesn't look good. The man positioned the ladder so the top rung would be right where he needed to place the lights, but with that strategy, he also had the base of the ladder way too far away from the house, creating an unstable base. As the man begins to climb said ladder, the bend in it is the worst subtle foreshadowing that he was in for a nasty fall. Sure enough, when he was about to reach the top rung, the ladder gave from underneath him, and he plummeted toward the ground. "I don’t think my stepdad will be hanging Christmas lights again." The man's stepdaughter captioned the video clip. Thankfully, she noted that he only fractured his foot from the fall. Talk about lucky; he could have been injured much more seriously. It looks like this man will have a very leisurely holiday season as he recovers from his injury. To anyone who has not hung up lights yet, pad up and double-check your ladder placement before climbing up to the roof.

Check out a few of the comments left on the video while you're here. "Ray Charles could have seen that coming, as my brother says." "I'm no expert or a handyman, but I think just by looking at the position of the ladder, it doesn't look safe, and I'm pretty sure he felt the ladder bending as he was climbing up." "Not sure why I screamed at my phone trying to warn him." "Saw this coming from 3 TikToks away."  "That's why I paid someone." "WHO set the ladder up like that? Good grief." "Always keep a mattress below you if you're not sure about the angle. HA." "Saw that like 45 degrees ago."
