Baltimore Ravens Fan Arrested For Random Attack On Commanders Fans Said His Problem Isn’t Drugs Or Alcohol, But “Being Disrespected”

Sounds like a perfectly reasonable response. Chances are you've already seen the disturbing video that went viral back in October of a Baltimore Ravens fan sucker punching a Washington Commanders fan during a seemingly random attack after a game in Baltimore. The attack appeared to be completely unprovoked, with the camera guy pointing out “a straggler” to Callis, who then beat the unsuspecting pedestrians while boldly declaring that he “doesn’t lose.” https://twitter.com/HaterReport_/status/1845801381719855608 The victim reportedly suffered a concussion during the incident, while the Ravens fan was quickly identified as John "Jack" Callis, who was arrested and charged with one count of first degree assault and three counts of second degree assault. https://twitter.com/wbaltv11/status/1848408073586479472Callis is facing a maximum of 55 years in jail, and has been held without bond since his arrest. But he was back in court yesterday asking again to be released ahead of his trial. According to The Baltimore Banner, attorneys for Callis told the court that their client "openly acknowledges issues with drugs and alcohol," and that they had a plan to address those issues without him having to remain locked up. But Callis had apparently told a different story on his jail calls. Prosecutors revealed that during a call with his father, the 24-year old man disputed that he had a problem with cocaine or alcohol, and instead said that his "real problem was being disrespected." Dude, you're a grown ass man and you're out here throwing temper tantrums over being disrespected? But anyway, the court didn't appear too happy with Callis or his attorneys. Baltimore Circuit Judge Yolanda A. Tanner refused the request to set bail, calling Callis a danger to public safety due to his cocaine and alcohol use and scolding his attorneys for not presenting any new information while calling the hearing a "catfight." The judge said she was not convinced that outpatient treatment was enough to address Callis' drug problem and the danger he poses to the public. It's also been previously revealed that the viral video shows not the first but the second time Callis attacked the Commanders fans. The first time, the victims had lost some of their belongings, and when they came back to retrieve them, that’s when the video was taken. The man's attorneys have requested that he be released on GPS monitoring, but during a previous hearing a judge agreed to release him only to inpatient treatment after Callis admitted that he’s done cocaine daily for the past four years, including on the night of the attack. And it’s also not his first run-in with the law: Callis has been on probation for assault charges twice before in two different states, so there's clearly a bigger problem here. But for now, it sounds like he's going to be sitting behind bars until his trial, where he won't have to worry about being "disrespected."
