People Are Begging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis To Appoint Pitbull To The US Senate After Senator Marco Rubio Named Secretary Of State

Pitbull

Senator Worldwide? Donald Trump is busy assembling his cabinet after pulling off a massive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. The former president has just a couple of months to fill out his team, and he's already named some high profile officials to top posts. Along with naming the first female White House chief of staff in history, Trump has also announced that he will name Florida Senator Marco Rubio as his Secretary of State. Obviously with Rubio leaving the Senate to take a position in Trump's cabinet, that leaves an open seat for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to name a replacement. In Florida, the temporary replacement will serve as Senator until the seat comes up for re-election, which in the case of Rubio's seat isn't until the 2028 election. So it's clearly a pretty important selection for the Florida governor. Several names have already been thrown around, with some even urging the governor to appoint himself to the seat. But along with DeSantis, names that have been mentioned include Florida Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nunez, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, former Florida House Speaker Jose Oliva, or the governor's chief of staff James Uthmeier. But folks on the internet have a different Floridian in mind: Pitbull. Yes, that Pitbull. The rapper, whose real name is Armando Perez, is one of the most famous residents of Miami, and the internet is begging to see Mr. Worldwide become Senator Worldwide. https://twitter.com/ltthompso/status/1856333910809973008 https://twitter.com/anangbhai/status/1856190494281200104 https://twitter.com/RosedaleNeil/status/1856326150307401867 Now, I'm sure it would be quite the pay cut for Pitbull to take the job. US Senators make $174,000 per year, while Pitbull just announced a 5-stop tour in Europe for next February that will no pay...well, a lot more than $174,000 for 5 nights of work. https://twitter.com/pitbull/status/1856351248816975915 Gonna go out on a limb and say he probably doesn't want the job. But then again, do Senators really work THAT much? He could probably fit his tour in around all the time off that our government takes. Come back to vote and then head to Europe to sing "Timber." It could work. Of course the governor will almost certainly appoint a Republican to fill the seat, and we don't really know much about Mr. Pitbull's politics. But as a first generation Cuban American, there's a good chance that he leans right. In fact, in the past he's even spoken out about the dangers of communism in Cuba: “It frustrates me, to a certain extent, being a Cuban-American and having a platform to speak to the world and not being able to help my own people. Not being able to get them food, not being able to get them water, not being able to get them medicine. But most of all not being able to help and really get them what they deserve, which is freedom.” Cuban Americans are largely Republicans because many of them know the dangers of government overreach and the creep towards communism. So it would stand to reason that Pitbull would likely be a Republican, even if he's not outspoken about his political views. But I don't think the people on the internet are really taking his politics into account when they ask for him to be appointed to the Senate. I think everybody just wants to see Senator Pitbull in Washington.
