Yellowstone is BACK in just two more days.
The hit Paramount series is set to return for an epic series finale this Sunday evening, finishing off the second half of Season 5 where fans will finally find out what the future of the Dutton Ranch holds.
Patriarch John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, isn't expected to return, but all of the other cast members will return including leads Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), and of course, the fan-favorite Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly).
Kelly stopped by CBS Mornings today to talk about Beth and what's in store for her this season, and she opened up on what makes Beth so special and how it's been fun for fans to peel back the layers of why Beth is the way she is over the years:
"She breaks my heart. I'm so moved by her. And I think over the years, over the seasons, you're able to sort of unpeel the layers and get to see why she does the things she does. This is a woman who grew up with brothers on this ranch, it's very harsh, brutal environment.
She was afraid of horses as a child, which is not great for a daughter of a ranching family, and there was an accident where she accidentally killed her own mother... being afraid of horses caused the horse to rear up and land on her mother's chest.
And as her mother lay there on the ground, dying, she said 'This is your fault.' I mean, what does that do to a psyche? So there was a lot for me to like uncover."
When asked whether or not Rip might find out about about why Beth is unable to have children and why she really hates her brother Jamie so much, she obviously didn't give too many details:
"I'm sure that, I mean, maybe... Taylor has yet to give that to Rip, that information. So whether or not it stays in the vault of Beth's heart forever, she doesn't want to hurt him. That would hurt him."
Rip might just burn the whole damn thing down if he finds out...
Possibly the most interesting part, though, was when Kelly talked about her flawless American accent (my words), because I didn't know she was actually British until like a season or two in and I was rewatching Pride & Prejudice, which she is in.
I honestly forgot she was in it because that movie came out so long ago, so I was obviously impressed at how good her accent was because she certainly had me fooled:
"I work with a great dialect coach, so she helps me, but it's not the first time I've played Americans... and I'm married to an American, I live in New York, so I'm surrounded, I hear you all time time.
And I sometimes think I sound like I'm that person the mid-Atlantic that has that American twang, which my mom and brother call me up and say you sound so American and 'I'm like, I don't. The mid-Atlantic thing is horrible, I'd rather just sound fully American or fully British.
Everything about Beth was intimidation to me to begin with, and least of all, her accent... I wanted to get it right."
She echoed the sentiments of Grimes and Ian Bohen, who were also on CBS Mornings this week, saying the finale is epic and fans will be really satisfied with it:
"I want you all to see these next six episodes, and see where it lands. Incredibly satisfying. Very cathartic, yes it does go higher, we take the roof off, and then there is something about it that is really beautiful and poetic."
I can't wait... I can only imagine what Beth Dutton has up her sleeve.
