![“Dream Come True” – Jason Kelce Gets Emotional In Stevie Nicks Recording Session For The Song “Maybe This Christmas”]()
![Jason Kelce]()
Is there anything Jason Kelce can't do? We know the retired Philadelphia Eagles center and future Hall of Famer has already cut two Christmas albums with his former teammates, but it looks like the next — and apparently final — record is going to go out with a bang.
Enlisting the extraordinary talents of none other than Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks, we have video of Kelce and Nicks during a recording session for "Maybe This Christmas" for the upcoming album
A Philly Special Christmas Party. you can tell that Nicks is a personal hero of Kelce's, as he's nearly moved to tears throughout the video and states how nervous he is.
"This is my dream come true. I am glad we're turning this into a full-on recording session. I never thought I'd ever in a million years be on a song with Stevie Nicks, so this is incredible."

Credit to Stevie Nicks for being such a pro's pro here. She is as dialed in as you could possibly be. It sure comes across as if Kelce wasn't anticipating recording with her. Maybe she was just there to check out the studio and give some pointers on how to add in more layers of harmony. Before long, Nicks was demonstrating how to do that herself, only to then spin it into a guest spot on the track.
The most notable rendition of the song I could find came from a Christmas album of the same name by Ron Sexsmith. It's a short, sweet, catchy and folksy sort of number that touches on themes of forgiveness and the general giving spirit of the holiday season I suppose. That whole lyrical narrative speaks more broadly to me about how Christmastime dovetails into the new year. It represents an inflection point where everyone can start fresh, have a renewed perspective, and look forward to what's on the horizon with optimism and good intentions.
If I were in Jason Kelce's shoes, with his endearing personality, gregariousness, and NFL-caliber athletic ability that he paired with a phenomenal work ethic to carve out the epic career and legacy that he did, I would 100% leverage all that goodwill for once-in-a-lifetime opportunity such as this.
Think about it this way. Jason Kelce has won a Super Bowl. His status as one of the all-time greats at his position is unquestioned. He's still very much in the spotlight as he's proceeded to go full steam ahead into a booming post-retirement media career. For all those achievements, you can tell that this collaboration with Stevie Nicks hit different as the kids say. I'm sure many of us would have a similar reaction. In fact, I
know I'd be a shaking, anxious wreck if I got the shot to lay down a session with, say, Julian Casablancas to name one of my music idols.
The vast majority of us have already forgiven Kelce for that recent
phone-smashing incident with an ignorant fan, which he's already profusely
apologized for multiple times. Nice to see a wholesome moment like this make waves on social media on the heels of all that nonsense, am I right?
Below you can find the aforementioned Ron Sexsmith arrangement of "Maybe This Christmas." I'm really looking forward to see how all the creative input Nicks provided for this latest version pans out in the final recording. In case you're wondering, too,
A Philly Special Christmas Party is slated to release on Black Friday, November 29.
