Putting them to the test.
We're finally just one day out from the 2024 presidential election between former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. It feels like the campaign has been going on forever, and it's been as divisive and ugly as everybody expected it to be, but pretty soon we'll finally know who's going to be our next president - and more importantly, be able to watch football without having to see political ads.
Ok I'm kidding, obviously elections are important. And one of the big issue in this election has been illegal immigration and border security.
Both sides have tried to make the case that they're better on the issue than the other, with Trump accusing Harris and the Joe Biden administration of opening the border and allowing a flood of illegal immigrants into the country, while Harris claims that they've worked to secure the border and blamed Trump for tanking a bipartisan border security bill (that would have given amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants who are already here).
There's also been a fight over Kamala's role in the border crisis, with Trump trying to hammer home the fact that the VP served as the "border czar" in charge of the administration's immigration policy, while Harris has denied that she was ever the "border czar" or in charge of border policy.
So yeah, illegal immigration is a hot topic now, and for good reason. Obviously you can't have millions of people flooding into the country unscreened. Are some of them simply hardworking immigrants in search of a better life for themselves and their family? Absolutely, and we should make it easy for them to apply to come here and contribute. But are some of them coming over here to traffic drugs, take advantage of our system and wreak havoc on our country? Of course they are - and there's no way to tell them apart unless we're screening people who come in.
Republican governors in states like Texas and Florida that have been overwhelmed by illegal immigrants (or "undocumented" if you want to be politically correct, whatever) have started busing them to other states, including major cities like New York and Chicago, and even dropping some off in the wealthy (and liberal) town of Martha's Vineyard, no doubt hoping that those on the other side will start to get a sense of the crisis that it's causing in southern states.
And one YouTuber decided to put Harris supporters to the test, giving them a chance to do their part to help with the immigration crisis too.
Seth Meiring, who himself is a Trump supporter, posted a video of himself posing as a member of the Kamala Harris campaign and offering Harris supporters the opportunity to take in some illegal immigrants of their own. And surprisingly, nobody took him up on the offer.
The excuses ranged from one family having COVID (the immigrants said they didn't mind and were confident that they would survive COVID) to one family expressing concern for their small children, which seems to highlight the point he was trying to make.

The video also comes on the heels of fake postcards that were mailed out to some Harris supporters informing them that an immigrant family would be moved into their home.

I guess that's one way to get your point across ahead of election day.
