Congratulations to the Los Angeles Dodgers, your 2024 World Series Champions.
It sure looked like the Yankees were about to make things interesting and send the series back to LA for Game 6 but a disastrous fifth inning flipped the script completely and New York wasn't able to recover, leading to the 8th Fall Classic title in Dodgers franchise history.

Aaron Judge broke out of his slump in the first inning with a monster homerun and later had a clutch double to keep the Yankees' hopes alive but it'll be a dropped flyball that everyone will be talking about for a long, long time. A muffed grounder and Gerrit Cole failing to cover first on a weak hit to Anthony Rizzo added onto the ineptitude of the Bronx Bombers in the inning, leading to 5 unearned runs which evened the score after New York scored five over the first three innings.

Obviously it was a longshot for the Yankees to come back from a 3-0 series deficit. In fact they were the first postseason team to force a Game 5 after losing the first three since 1970 and the only team to actually complete a comeback from three games down was the Boston Red Sox in 2004, against the Yankees themselves.
The one thing that was working in the Yankees favor was lack of starting pitching depth for the Dodgers. The newly crowned champs came into the postseason with seven starting pitchers on the injured list... Yes, you read that right, and two of them are absolute gamechangers when healthy.

Tyler Glasnow was traded from the Tampa Bay Rays to the Dodgers in December of last year. He then signed a 5 year, $136.5 million extension and was expected to be a major piece of their rotation for this year's push. He was great in the first half, being selected to his first ever All-Star game, but didn't pitch after August 11th due to a strained elbow.
The other injured starter was future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw, who has been a member of the Dodgers since being their first round draft pick in 2006. He's been one of the best pitchers in the game for his entire career (horrible postseason outings not withstanding) and has a slew of awards (3 Cy Youngs and an MVP for starters) and records to his name, including a 2020 World Series ring; he picked up two wins in that series.
Unfortunately, Kershaw has been out since August 31st, when he was put on the IL due to a bone spur in his left big toe, and wasn't able to participate in his team's postseason run, but that didn't stop him from getting fully involved in the celebration.
Kershaw decided to let the world know what the body of an elite major league pitcher looks like, and let's just say he won't be hopping on a bodybuilding stage anytime soon. This is certainly not helping the "pitchers aren't athletes" conversation but to that I'd say step in the box against him and see if you're singing the same tune...

He even got some family photos with the trophy with his top popped.

How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Granted, most people hate either the Yankees or Dodgers (and many hate both) so fingers crossed we get a team people actually like (how about the Phillies?) in the World Series next year. Congrats to the Dodgers. LA, you better show up for this parade after all the talk about how you missed out on one in 2020...
