Intoxicated Golfer Smashes Driver Over Guy’s Head For Allegedly Hitting Into Him

What on Earth is going on north of the border? The cliché goes that golf is a gentleman's game, and that sort of comportment was decidedly not on display during this scuffle amongst quarreling weekend warriors. You'd be forgiven for thinking these were two warm-blooded, amped-up Americans, but no! This grisly video of a man whacking another man in the head with a driver comes to us from Burnaby Mountain Golf Course in British Columbia, Canada! It's straight-up brutal. The alleged trigger for such a violent outburst? One group allegedly hit into the other. https://twitter.com/NUCLRGOLF/status/1850232871274909860 You can hear someone saying, "What the f--- is wrong with you?! Call the f---ing cops!" And that's precisely what happened, as the 43-year-old assailant was arrested and has been released. He'll have a court date here soon on potential charges of assault with a weapon. Royal Canadian Mounted Police corporal Mike Kalanj spoke out on the scary incident and how it's the second on-course altercation in Burnaby in recent months, per a Bernabynow.com report. "When police arrived, the intoxicated 43-year-old male suspect was still on scene and immediately taken into custody with no incident. [...]This is the second time Burnaby officers have dealt with a fight at a golf course since June...It is unacceptable to engage in a physical altercation like this at a recreational facility." What's more, as reported by Bernabynow, the rage monster actually attacked two other players in that group. The good news is everyone involved only suffered minor injuries. Could've been a lot worse. When somebody gets hit by a golf ball, the sound is quite jarring and unpleasant. Never mind an actual club. Never mind the biggest stick in the bag! A driver to the face for getting hit into? Seriously? You can hear the crack on the video when the clubface makes contact. It's rather lucky that the head of the driver broke off. Otherwise we could've legit had a skull-splitting blood bath on our hands, or at the very least, some other dudes might've lost some teeth. Now it'd be one thing if one of the groups was antagonizing the other by hitting over their heads on purpose. You're obviously not allowed to do that. It's dangerous. Sometimes it just happens that there's a blind shot, or somebody doesn't think they can actually hit that par-5 green in two shots and all of a sudden they hit the greatest shot of their life and it comes rolling up on the group in front. Sounds like the horrible guy who did this will have the book thrown at him, and rightfully so. There's no room for behavior like this. I don't care how many cart beers you've pounded or how egregious the hitting-into is on any given day. Report it to the people who work at the course so that group isn't allowed back. Simple as that if a stern Talk Tuah'm doesn't suffice (sorry I had to). Lastly, we do have evidence of that trademark kindhearted Canadian stereotype in this video. The man filming is silent throughout the spat, until breaking in at the very end with, "We can deescalate this, eh? We can deescalate it." A little too little, a little too late for that stra-tee-gery, good sir. I was thinking of what I would've said to you before you started filming to try to talk your buddy out of smashing some dude's face in with his driver. What came to mind was yelling at him things like: "TURN THAT CART AROUND!" and "PUT THAT DRIVER DOWN!" But do it in the vocal style of Arnold Schwarzenegger for obvious reasons. It's syllable-perfect. You know the line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMLaKR9eoRA
