Jameis Winston Professes “Unwavering Faith” & Drops Bars From Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” After Leading Browns To Victory

Jameis Winston

For whatever checkered past Jameis Winston has, you could throw a reanimated corpse in at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns at this point and it'd be viewed by fans as a Halloween season-savvy upgrade. One week removed from cheering on as Deshaun Watson suffered an Achilles rupture, the Dawg Pound enthusiastically embraced Famous Jameis. The Browns rallied around their new starting QB to knock off a Baltimore Ravens team that looked pretty much invincible coming in. Other than a lost fumble, Jameis balled out, throwing for 331 yards and three TDs. As great as he was on the gridiron throughout Cleveland's 29-24 win, you could argue Jameis' most impressive performance was behind the microphone. It all started before kickoff, where you could tell Jameis was relishing the opportunity. He made sure to give thanks "This is the day that the Lord has made; I will be glad and rejoice in it," Jameis said while staring off into space and being one of the most locked-in dudes you could ever see. It was a direct quote from the Bible's Psalm 118:24. https://twitter.com/NFLonCBS/status/1850578121541497316 The on-field results and his own excellence could've let Jameis to gloat a little more with a little, "How do you like me now!?" energy, since he's struggled to find a starting gig of late. Instead, he remained steadfast in his faith-based message — but also took a total left turn into singing some lines from Eminem's hit song, "Lose Yourself." https://twitter.com/NFLonCBS/status/1850635948159041624 Before getting into the lyrics from the artist known as Marshall Mathers, the way Jameis initially broached the topic was as follows: "There's a white boy up in Detroit that I really admire. Named Eminem. He said you only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow. This opportunity lasts once in a lifetime. And I know I gotta quote Eminem, he's in Detroit, he's right up the road. But I'm just grateful. I'm grateful that the Lord provided me with this opportunity, I'm grateful for my teammates, for my coaches, and for these amazing fans." Just gotta love the blatant, frank rhetoric from Jameis here when it comes to identifying Eminem. Few other professional athletes, nay humans on Earth, could manage to bookend pregame and postgame interviews work with Bible allusions and lyrics from a smash hit rap song. The wonders of Jameis Winston won't soon cease. I mean, he's still about as authentic as a $3 bill, but even if that's the case, I thought Myles Garrett was going to be the top thespian-adjacent news to come out of Browns Town today with that sick Terminator Halloween costume. I really don't understand why Jameis connected the dots in his mind to Detroit. Maybe he used "Lose Yourself" as motivational fodder this week during practice. Can't pretend to have the first clue about what runs through that man's mind. Jameis has actually had plenty of opportunities to start, including as a former No. 1 overall pick for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The year after they dumped him, Tom Brady came to town and won a Super Bowl. Few other teams have been willing to give Jameis much of a chance since then. What's wild to me is, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski insisted this whole time pre-Deshaun's injury that Deshaun gave the team the best chance to win. Anyone with eyeballs and an ounce of ball knowledge who saw what Jameis did to the Ravens today knows that's not true. Just a microcosm of everything wrong in Cleveland for the now 2-6 Brownies. BRB gonna go hype myself up Jameis-style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFYQQPAOz7Y
