Indiana Student Destroys His Knee Warming Up For Pat McAfee Kicking Contest On College Gameday

Indiana kicking

You know how when an athlete tears an ACL and the internet immediately is flooded with a bunch of 30-year old's offering up their tendons? This is proof that those measly ligaments wouldn't stand a chance during an actual sporting event. Pat McAfee's kicking contest during College Gameday has become must see TV each week. Just the idea of offering college kids tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to make a 33 yard field goal is pure electricity and shows that maybe we should be a bit easier when our kicker misses a chip shot... So far, there's only been a few kids to make the kick, including an engineering student at Cal who took home $100,000 on a second attempt earlier this month: https://twitter.com/MrMatthew_CFB/status/1842577162601459841 Last week's contest was overshadowed by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's insanely funny, but not necessarily safe for TV, jokes but today's contest was nearly derailed when the contestant literally fell apart before having a chance at glory. The first guy, named Jake, who was chosen was warming up backstage, decked out in his Indiana University gear, when disaster struck. His plant leg slipped on the grass and gravity did the rest, sending this poor dude tumbling to the ground in an awkward looking split, his knees bent in all sorts of wrong directions. https://twitter.com/BostonConnr/status/1850186227267354786 First of all, there was absolutely no shot this guy was going to get the football off the ground, let alone send it 33 yard through the uprights, so what was he thinking? Do these people love embarrassing themselves on national television, enjoy announcing to the world that you are incapable of performing an athletic activity despite dedicating your every waking second to sports? Also, you have to feel terrible for the guy... They said a few times that he tore his ACL, and of course we don't know if that's an official medical diagnosis, but he wasn't able to give it a go, meaning he's actually injured. McAfee, being the guy he is, said he would pay both Jake and the replacement kicker, a finance bro named Jeram, if he was able to put one through the goalpost. Spoiler alert, he missed twice, meaning Jake might be paying for that surgery out of pocket... https://twitter.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1850192446916809100 Can't wait to settle in for another great day of college football action.
