The Pennsylvania McDonald’s That Donald Trump Visited Gets Bombarded With Trolling Yelp Reviews

Donald Trump at McDonald's

For the not-real job former President Donald Trump performed at a McDonald's recently, anti-Trumpers voiced their strong opposition to him by making up some fake news of their own. As reported by Newsweek and multiple other outlets, the fast food establishment Trump visited in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, got spammed with faux reviews on Yelp in the wake of the publicity stunt. https://twitter.com/MikeSington/status/1848730063325340004 Here's a mere sampling of the carnage, courtesy of the above X post: "Free lies with every shake. You just don’t want to see who’s shaking. I asked for an Arnold Palmer. Old man told me I couldn’t handle it." "The fries were too salty as if someone who lost a major election had been crying over them for an hour." "The person who was at the drive through vaguely resembled someone who I saw on the news for being a convicted felon." A few more while we're at it, via the Newsweek report: "Repeated himself several times, something about Ronald McDonald in the showers at the golf club? … 0 stars. Do not recommend." "Usually I hold high praise for a company that employs the mentally impaired but this one seemed more off then usual." "Person working there today not wearing proper hair covering, in violation of PA code 95.230." The references to Trump's infamous rally tangent about Arnold Palmer's hog size are probably my favorite ones. There were also gripes about Trump working the fryer without wearing gloves or covering his immaculately coiffed hair. Guess there's no messing with The Donald's 'Do. During his trip to Mickey D's, Trump worked the fryer, handed out food to pre-screened drive-thru customers who weren't actual customers, and took questions from reporters straight out of the drive-thru window in a McDonald's apron. https://twitter.com/michellelprice/status/1848066815567761437 Yes, this is apparently real life. Trump's appearance was seen as a troll job of its own in response to Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris' history as a McDonald's worker. Trump contends that Harris never worked at McDonald's at any point in time. Harris has responded that she worked at a specific location in Alameda, California, during her college years. Fixating on the veracity of your chief political opponent's college summer survival job is certainly a choice. A mere fraction of Trump's massive inheritance included partial ownership of a 52-unit apartment building at age 17 and $1 million in gifted annual income via his father beginning right after he graduated college. Working at McDonald's was never going to be a thing for him. McDonald's has chimed in, stating they don't keep employment records that long, but she reportedly has never included the job on her resume or job application she submitted in 1987 for a law clerk position in the Alameda County district attorney's office. That's the basis of the "she never worked there" argument from the Trump campaign. Did she? Who knows... Anything Trump can use for leverage in a battleground state like Pennsylvania, he's going to exploit. The same goes for Harris, of course. Trump's McDonald's stunt was also a presumed attempt to appeal to more working-class voters. The Yelp reviewers were obviously already against him, but I'm not sure the risk-reward of trolling Harris versus some of the backlash Trump is getting was thought through super well. What do I know, though? I'm not some political campaign strategist. All the focus grouping and micro-decisions any political campaign makes to appeal to any number of the general populace's peculiar proclivities will never fully make sense to me. So-called political science is very inexact... Anyway, let's wrap up with some more fake news in the form of a Trump impersonator talking to a drive-thru customer. It wasn't a part of his actual visit to the Pennsylvania McDonald's, but it is hilarious nonetheless. https://twitter.com/Bubu_fan1/status/1848204851554992517
