Jerry Jones Threatens Dallas Radio Host’s Job For Asking Simple Questions Amid Latest Cowboys Disaster

Jerry Jones Cowboys

If they ain't softball questions, Jerry Jones ain't interested in answering them. The Dallas Cowboys are a tire fire earlier than usual this year. Typically they coast through the regular season, beat up on lowly division rivals such as the Giants and Commanders, and disappoint with an epic playoff flop. However, they're coming off a humiliating 47-9 home loss to the Detroit Lions, and Jerry is refusing to acknowledge reality. Does he expect to go on a local radio show and be kissed up to? Apparently. So when the Cowboys owner/GM/main figurehead took issue with a line of questioning from 105.3 The Fan, he resorted to dangling the radio host's job security. https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing/status/1846194429347889257 https://twitter.com/BloggingTheBoys/status/1846181948416266559 The guys who were hosting this show did a fine job of laughing off Jones' anger, but yeah, I'm sure if Jones could pay off the right people, he could make life instant hell for any of them. Kind of a scary thought. I mean at this point, Jerry doesn't give a damn. He has the most valuable sports franchise on the planet, and NFL teams are sharing revenue at $400 million per team these days. The league is printing money. Not that it's an object to Jerry in the first place, but even less so now. And even less so as he, just turning 82, hopes for one last Super Bowl before his tenure is over. Here's the issue: Jerry isn't accountable to anybody when s**t hits the fan. He deserves credit for building the Cowboys into "America's Team" and establishing them as an indefatigable monolith of a brand. That said, when it comes to the actual football operations side of things, Dallas has operated like a family business that stays loyal to a fault to many of their star players and doesn't seem to have winning as the No. 1 priority. It's almost like Jerry cares more about the PR of it all than what happens on the field. Of course Jerry would never admit to thinking like this. He might not even realize he thinks like this. But the football product the Cowboys put out on an annual basis just isn't up to snuff. And local radio hosts should be able to call him out for that, and criticize his decision-making, no matter what the setting is. Jerry talked about wanting to sit down in-person with these men, explain all his offseason transaction, and not throw out all the good with the bad that's led to the Cowboys to a mediocre 3-3 record thus far. It only got worse the more Jerry spoke on Tuesday morning, but here's more context that led into the initial clip: https://twitter.com/PatDoneyNBC5/status/1846191663087075487 And there's plenty more where that came from... Hey Jerry, guess what? Signing Ezekiel Elliott again to address your obvious void at the running back position, after seeing him flop for years and not live up to the exorbitant contract you rewarded him with? Probably not a good move. Quadrupling down on Dak Prescott with a $60 million per year contract? That's backfiring earlier than I even expected, as Dak has an 85.5 passer rating, which would be the lowest of his career if it holds. Dak is due to be a cap hit of almost $90 million in 2025. I wish I were making that up for Jerry's sake. Even if the Cowboys take the obvious step to restructure, that'd make Dak nearly a $77 million cap hit in 2026, per Over The Cap. Good luck fitting that Micah Parsons extension in! You just couldn't make this up. It's so low and gratuitous of Jerry to threaten a local radio host. When parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence return from injury, Dallas' defense should improve. The Week 7 bye will help the 'Boys recover from a rough start to the season. They can still make the playoffs. I just have no faith that they're built to sustainably win anything of substance as long as Jerry has this much control over the team.
