![Amazon Prime Reportedly Won’t Air Political Ads During Their Thursday Night Football Broadcasts This Year]()
![Thursday Night Football]()
You won't be seeing any political advertisements while tuning into Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime.
And that's something that the streaming service and e-commerce giant prides themselves in. After fans started noticing that their TNF broadcasts were free of political commercials, a deep dive discovered that Amazon does that intentionally during election years.
I'd probably be preaching to the choir if I started complaining about political advertisements on TV, right? I don't think anyone
leans in when a politician starts spouting out info (and slander) about the election, and I doubt that anyone has ever changed their mind after seeing a political ad while watching television.
As it turns out, Amazon Prime refuses to air ads that are considered "political," which they went on to describe as "campaigns for or against a politician or a political party, or related to an election, or content related to political issues of public debate." Their direct statement about their anti-politics-policy reads as follows:
"Political, such as campaigns for or against a politician or a political party, or related to an election, or content related to political issues of public debate. During an election year we prohibit media products about a specific political party, issue, or candidate."

Hey... shoutout to Amazon (and Jeff Bezos if he had anything to do with it), that's actually really nice and greatly appreciated. Often times when people turn on sports, they're looking for an escape from the real world for a bit. The last thing people want to see is a commercial for Kamala Harris or Donald Trump, and Amazon Prime recognizes that.
Not only does Amazon reject political ads during their football broadcasts, they also refrain from airing any while consumers are streaming regular shows as well. Amazon Prime Video streamers do have to sit through ads now (unless you upgrade to a non-ad version), but at least they won't have any politics forced onto them while binging their favorite shows.
