![“Do Not Sleep On The Second Half” – Weatherman Fires A Vicious 28-3 Falcons Super Bowl Stray During Hurricane Milton Report]()
![Weather Channel reporter]()
To put it in the words of fictional newsman Ron Burgundy, "Boy that escalated quickly!"
Weather Channel meteorologist Paul Goodloe caused a serious stir for his remarks about the Atlanta Falcons while braving the elements of Hurricane Milton in Florida. Seemingly in the clear from the storm for this brief clip that's making the rounds, Goodloe took the time to call out the Falcons for their blown 28-3 Super Bowl lead and eventual 34-28 overtime loss to the New England Patriots. The idea was that merely the first half of Hurricane Milton had hit, and nobody should underestimate how devastating the second half could be.
"There's a lot more to go. I think back to the Atlanta Falcons' first-half Super Bowl winner. We know what happened to the second half, when the Patriots came back to life.
So do not sleep on the second half of Milton, and we're definitely concerned now with this surge."

Yowza, man. Forget the slap in the face this is to Falcons fans. I'm all for a good sports analogy in almost any context, but likening the suffering of entire communities to something that happened on a football field seems a little off-key to me, for lack of a better term.
On the other hand, I'm inclined to give Goodloe some grace here. He's doing the best he can. Sure this is his job and he's used to various forms of inclement weather, but there has to be an underlying fear for his life on some level given the severity of Hurricane Milton. Using humor to deflect from deeper, less desirable emotions or in times of crisis can be healthy. It's probably better than a more straightforward projection of potential peril to those who are just trying to survive, although that's essentially the warning at the heart of Goodloe's message by the end.
The general reaction for most folks around the X/Twittersphere is that they just couldn't believe Goodloe
went there during the brief segment — and he actually drew a lot of applause from the social media gallery.

To keep things a little lighter, the Falcons really have had it tough. Before Kirk Cousins started going HAM in prime time this year for them, they struggled to find a quarterback after Matt Ryan's MVP season drove them to that fateful Super Bowl loss. Matty Ice's play-caller Kyle Shanahan has since gone on to lead the 49ers to multiple NFC championships, and now ex-Atlanta coach Dan Quinn has the Commanders shocking the world with a 4-1 record. Better days appear to be on the horizon for the Falcons, though.
Anyway, all jokes aside, best wishes to those impacted by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. Here are links to the
Red Cross and
Project Hope. There are many more good resources out there to pitch in and help as well.
