“Straight Meat Watchers” – Former NFL WR Torrey Smith Calls Out “Awkward Male Reporters” Amid Players’ Demand For Locker Room Privacy

Torrey Smith WR

Well tell us how you really feel Former NFL wide receiver Torrey Smith and San Francisco 49ers do-it-all fullback Kyle Juszczyk are apparently among the members of the NFL Players Association who emphatically agree with the union's statement on Friday, which calls for media interviews to move away from the sanctity of the locker room. https://twitter.com/NFLPA/status/1842263524665335858 Smith made a rather darkly comedic blanket statement that called out several unnamed male reporters, but Juice was not afraid to throw the hammer down on a certain notorious 49ers content creator. https://twitter.com/torreysmithwr/status/1842275235791241706 https://twitter.com/juicecheck44/status/1842269332749099117 It really is an oddly vulnerable position to put an athlete in. Many of them are probably trying to be diplomatic toward certain beat writers as is if they see some sort of criticism volleyed their way. I understand that it's part of the job description for football players who get paid millions of dollars to just take any public or local reporter scrutiny on the chin. However, asking them to do that in a locker room where they may or may not be fully clothed? I don't know. I'm only really pondering this issue for the first time, as I didn't realize the NFLPA felt so passionate about it. One minute of critical thought and it makes total sense to me. So yeah, if there really are reporters who are eyeing the exposed groin regions of players, that's messed up. Let's not do that, fellas. And as far as the man Juice named, Grant Cohn, all I know is he's often in hot water as is because of his unfiltered, often pointed critiques of the team. Life is pretty good for 49ers fans, and not to just like dump on a guy for no reason, but I feel like Cohn is always spreading negativity for shock value and video views while covering a franchise that is in annual Super Bowl contention. Doesn't add up to me. And I wouldn't be firing off any strays if Juice wasn't the person who brought up the name in the first place. Check out Deebo's response to one of his questions earlier this week if you need any clarification: https://twitter.com/grantcohn/status/1841965134480343383 Given that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was caught boasting to Jamie Foxx about a certain player's manhood, I guess it's not a stretch to imagine some disrespectful media members might think that way, too. I don't know. This has a bunch of pervy vibes and I'm pretty sure the players wouldn't be so incensed with the media access if there wasn't a serious problem. So yeah, Goodell, fix that, don't add an 18th game without an extra bye, and make all stadiums have natural grass. Then we'll really be cooking with gas.
