Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse for Dolphins fans...
It's already been a rough season for the
Miami Dolphins. The season started with star wide receiver
Tyreek Hill being handcuffed on his way into their season opener, and it's only gotten worse from there. The team is 1-3, and
lost quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to a concussion after a hard hit in week 2.
Things aren't great for Dolphins fans right now, with the team most recently losing to the struggling Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football in a game that was pretty painful for everybody to watch.
But it was apparently especially painful for one Dolphins fan, who posted a video of his girl holding up her phone while they were at the game - and showing a DM from Titans backup QB Mason Rudolph, who entered the game after starter Will Levis was knocked out.
The girl in the video was Amanda Vance, who is a former NFL cheerleader and current sports influencer. And her man who posted the video works for Jake Paul's media company Betr (which is also home to the Talk Tuah podcast with the Hawk Tuah girl, but that's not really relevant - just thought I'd throw that in there).
Anyway, the DM asking if Vance was "still in Miami" showed a timestamp of "2 minutes ago," which would have meant that Rudolph was sliding into this guy's girlfriend's DMs in the middle of a game. But the caption of the post noted that the screenshot was from "months" ago.
Of course that didn't stop the video from going viral and people from assuming that the QB was trying to leave Hard Rock Stadium with more than a win on the field.
But Rudolph cleared things up, and denied that he was trying to score in more ways than one during the game.
During an appearance on
The Doug Gottlieb Show, Rudolph was asked whether he slid into the girl's DMs in the middle of the Monday Night Football game:
"No, it was a response, and it was about eight months ago. It was definitely not in between second down going to third down, that’s for sure...
But a good frame job. A good frame job for a little 15 seconds of fame I guess."
Normally I would say that as much as the Dolphins are struggling it probably wouldn't matter if their opponent's QB was shooting his shot with Instagram models during a game. But the Titans aren't much better, so it's probably a good thing that his focus was on the field and not on his DMs.
