Florida Tourists Can’t Help But Get A Selfie At Key West Landmark As Hurricane Helene Rolls In

Florida man

It's not often I'm happy I don't live in Florida anymore but right now is one of those times. Hurricane Helene has reached Category 3 as it prepares to make landfall in the Sunshine State. Storm surges are expected to be as high as 20 feet and parts of the state are already flooding as Helene veers towards Tallahassee. Even though most of the west and southern coasts won't be directly hit by the storm (at least according to the current models) it doesn't mean they aren't being affected. Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa is already covered with water and videos from elsewhere are making their way online as Floridians brace for impact. https://twitter.com/watilo/status/1839368128620638533 And while Florida locals prepare for the worst, or perhaps gear up for their hurricane parties, visitors to the state won't let a little thing like a hurricane ruin their vacation. A video taken at Southernmost Point in the Florida Keys shows a pair of tourists making their way to the iconic "90 Miles to Cuba" landmark to snag some pictures as the waves literally crash over their heads. Obviously the Keys aren't directly in the storm's path but this is in no way a good idea... All it takes is for your shoe to slip right as a bigger wave hits and next thing you know you're being dragged out to sea. Again, this is not smart but man does it again makes me fall in love with the unique culture of Florida.
