Although the A's will avoid their third straight 100-loss campaign in 2024, they're still heading into Thursday's tilt with the Texas Rangers at a cool 22 games below .500. Their payroll is less than $63 million, trailing the Pirates by about $22 million. How about that? About a million bucks to match each game south of .500 that they are.
