It has to be demoralizing when you're hiding out in a hotel with a firearm at your disposal, only to have a robot incapacitate you before the proper authorities take you into custody. That's exactly what happened to 39-year-old Felix Dela Rosa, who was on the lam for a parole violation before he effed around and found out what happens when a SWAT robot cop come knocking at your door. In what's believed to be the first robot police arrest ever, our guy Felix did his best to evade custody by firing a gun at the robot, as can be glimpsed in the video below. https://twitter.com/DailyLoud/status/1836893160934359433 From the sounds of the report, somebody was injured by gunshot wound, which sucks unless it was Felix himself, because let's face it, he'd fully deserve it. Once the robot was fired upon, it did not hesitate to tear gas the hell out of Felix's hotel room, which had him gasping for air and stumbling out the front door. Once he was on the ground, the robot pinned Felix to the canvas until the humanoid authorities arrived to take him away. I can't tell if I'm more into the comedy of this, or if I should be unsettled that it's merely the latest step toward The Terminator's Skynet becoming a reality/going online. Keeping law enforcement officers out of harm's way in certain situations with robots seems like a sensible step forward for all of humanity. I just wonder where the line is drawn, if at all, when it comes to how advanced these robots ultimately become. Why get all doomy and gloomy about that on a Friday, though? Let's applaud the brave robot for totally owning this dude Felix. Maybe this episode will make folks think twice before they violate parole again. Now you never really know if you get the short end of the draw and get a knockout-capable robot wheeling its way toward your residence or hideaway. Just kidding about the first sentence of that last paragraph. Of COURSE I'm going to find the latest Boston Dynamics video to share with you. Look at the totally normal and not horror movie-esque way the robot stands up, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29ECwExc-_M
