![Boat guy]()
It's hard to do a mic drop when you have a beer in your hand - and when you aren't holding a mic in the first place. But
trust me, this guy figuratively did more than a couple of mic drops during this interview with CNN.
Joe Harner, who was described as a "Trump supporter," happily took to an interview while he was attending a Trump Boat Parade (they happen more often than you think). And let me tell you, it was a no shoes, no shirt,
all sass type of interview.
Harner was asked what he viewed as the most important political issue as of right now. He answered "the economy," which then led to some rather condescending questions from the CNN reporter. She even prefaced her questions by inquiring if she could throw some "slightly impolite questions" his way about being able to afford a boat and the upkeep that comes with it, yet saying he was worried about the economy.
That's when Harner started his masterclass with this snippet:
"Listen, nobody gave me sh*t. I earned everything that I've got. I'm retired military (and) retired power plant. And I'm successful and retired - with boats and jet skis - because I did it right.
Everybody has that chance. Whether they choose (that) or not, that's up to them."
Hot damn.
The CNN reporter then tried to get things back on track, and brought up the critical price point of groceries in today's economy. She implied that groceries are likely a small part of Harner's budget compared to others, and asked why he views the economy as an issue if he's well off enough to not worry about his grocery bill.
Guess what? Harner was ready to answer that question too:
"Because I want my money to go further. I want inflation to go down, I want interest rates to go back down. I want all of that.
That covers EVERYBODY in the economy. Not just me, not just the poor, not just the rich. It covers everybody."
At this point, the CNN interviewer was just trying to find one single point to stand on. So she brought up another hot conversation piece: the country's youth not being able to afford different things. She worded it as kids not being able to afford houses or cars, and little did she know that Joe Harner is a proud father, thus had a comeback for that as well:
"I trained my kids and taught my kids properly. They have great educations and they're both successful in their careers. Actually, they're doing better than me."

That's prime Michael Jordan right there. That's Tom Brady in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl. That's an absolute, all-time, first-team-All-American performance by Joe Harner. Is it too late for him to run for president?
At the very least, props to CNN for still airing that. They could have easily shelved that interview, but I guess Harner was too electric to silence. Then again, it's also pretty insane to insinuate that people who are living comfortably at the moment shouldn't be too concerned with the direction of the economy.
And I might be alone in this, but the whole thing reminded me of the scene in the 2010 film
The Other Guys where the tables got turned incredibly fast on someone who was trying to make a point:
