Jets fans in Nashville

Not sure what New York Jets diehards are so hyped about after having their hearts ripped out and stomped on this past Monday night by the Christian McCaffrey-less San Francisco 49ers. Maybe it's the mere fact that they get to face off against Will Levis and the Tennessee Titans. Sure, Aaron Rodgers probably gives Gang Green a major edge over Levis at the most important position, but the Jets' d-line got gashed on the ground in San Francisco, and the uglies in the trenches tasked with protecting Rodgers have their work cut out against Jeffery Simmons and the Titans' front. But anyway, enough about how Sunday's game will actually play out on the field. If the Jets' travel contingent to Nashville is any indication, we could see quite a bit of green in the stands at Nissan Stadium. "J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!" chants were ringing out all over Broadway — and I don't mean the one in New York Citayyy. A big Jets fan club got together for a pub crawl around Nashville, even hitting up Morgan Wallen's bar on the route. https://twitter.com/gothamcitycrew/status/1835028051240923171 https://twitter.com/gothamcitycrew/status/1835039438344237091 https://twitter.com/jakeasman/status/1835055853726028162 Sources tell me zero chairs were chucked over any balconies, despite how many decades of reasons Jets fans would have to get feloniously drunk and destroy property. I wouldn't want to get in the mix if I were really into the Titans, either. Looks like Jets folk outnumber y'all in your own city. That's a tough one to swallow. Even tougher is the fact that you may have no chance to do anything this season simply because Levis is at QB. Not that I'm totally writing him off. He has one of the strongest arms in the league and had flashes of brilliance last year as a rookie. That said, Levis' pocket presence has sucked since college, and he blew a 17-0 lead to the Bears in Week 1 despite his much-ballyhooed counterpart Caleb Williams only throwing for 93 yards. Talk about a must-win situation for both these teams. The chances of making the playoffs historically fall off a cliff if you start out 0-2. I'd argue more pressure is on the Jets, especially since one AFC contender from their own division, the Dolphins, are all but effectively out of it following Tua Tagovailoa's concussion on Thursday. Dropping this one in Tennessee could mean things get ugly real fast in Jets Land. Meanwhile, the Titans are just kind of navigating a rebuild with a first-year head coach and have a little runway before they're expected to be good. Hence probably why Jets fans are taking Week 2 so seriously and showing out in large numbers in enemy territory. Not to be too pessimistic about the Titans. Week 1 can be a false prophet of what's to come in any given NFL season. It's just that, well...I'll leave you with this. Never good to keep company with Deshaun Watson in any context. https://twitter.com/EvanHAbrams/status/1832874053369028839
