“We Beat The Officials Too”– Pitt Coach Pat Narduzzi Had No Issue Calling Out The Refs After Big Win Over West Virginia

Pitt coach

This is about as blatant as it gets from a head coach at any level of football airing public grievances about an officiating crew. I'd be frustrated, too, by some of the shenanigans that didn't go Pitt's way in Saturday's showdown with West Virginia, but the Panthers prevailed 38-34 in the end regardless. Pat Narduzzi wasn't content to just take the dub and go quietly into the night. The Pitt head coach made sure all of America knew that he thought his players got jobbed on more than one occasion. https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing/status/1835100336832303482 It was difficult to track down any footage of the late hit out of bounds, but there's no question Mountaineers wide receiver Justin Robinson got away with one of the most egregious push-offs I've ever seen. How this wasn't offensive pass interference is beyond me. https://twitter.com/brentsobleski/status/1835089073096343974 Sure, Robinson was going for the ball and tracking it, but he basically hang-time stiff-armed the Pitt defensive back into the turf. Impressive catch no doubt. Shouldn't have counted, though. What's wild is of all the people posting that particular highlight on X/Twitter, nobody's giving the faintest suggestion of OPI. Narduzzi obviously has no way of knowing that, but good on him calling a spade a spade for those folks to see. Must feel good for Narduzzi to get the Panthers off to a 3-0 start. They've already won as many games as they did all of last season, which is super disappointing considering they finished in the top 25 at the end of the previous two years. Getting chewed up and spit out by the NIL era and transfer portal had to be a test of mettle for Narduzzi, but hey, looks like he has a better squad this time around. Sure helps Narduzzi to have a former 4-star quarterback recruit in redshirt freshman Eli Holstein. The Alabama transfer threw for 301 yards and three TDs on Saturday — and led Pitt with 58 rushing yards. Not a bad day for the young man. Might be one to watch! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BB1VtTVHP3E
