Well, that's a crappy situation.
A Twitter (X) post went viral after an in-flight tracker showed a Delta flight from Boston to Rome, cutting their air time short. While the plane could have landed for many reasons, including lack of fuel, malfunctioning parts, and crazy passengers, this reason is far from desirable for those on the plane.
After an hour in the air, the plane turned around over the Atlantic Ocean and had an emergency landing in New York City due to a rather sh*tty situation. If you haven't caught up to where this is going yet...
A Delta spokesperson noted that the landing was caused by a "customer medical issue en route." However, the viral Tweet notes that the landing was caused by a passenger's "severe bouts of diarrhea all over their seat."
"A transatlantic Flight DL112 was headed from Boston to Rome on Saturday night, but two hours after departing, the Airbus A330 diverted back to New York City following “an onboard medical issue” involving a passenger who had severe bouts of diarrhea all over their seat."

The pilot communicated with air traffic control, noting the severity of the situation and the vital need for them to land.
Delta has also released a statement apologizing for the inconvenience the issue caused to other travelers. Thankfully, they were able to board another flight the next day and were well on their way to Rome.
“Delta apologizes to our customers for the delay in their travels from Boston to Rome on Friday night. We thank them for their patience as the aircraft diverted to New York-JFK before continuing to Rome early Saturday morning.”
Unfortunately for Delta, this is not the first case of the sh*ts they have seen. In September of last year, they had a similar incident and had to emergency land in Atlanta for similar reasons. The pilot was in a panic communicating to air traffic control was validated when images showed a brown trail up and down this aisleway with paper towels covering up the solid pieces.
“This is a biohazard issue,” the pilot declared to air traffic control. “We’ve had a passenger who’s had diarrhea all the way through the airplane, so they want us to come back to Atlanta.”
I feel bad for this poor soul who couldn't reach the restroom. Sh*tting your pants is never a good way to start an international trip.
