![Johnny Gaudreau]()
Terrible news out of the NHL world.
According to reports, Columbus Blue Jackets star forward
Johnny Gaudreau passed away Thursday night at the age of 31 after being hit by a suspected drunk driver while cycling. Johnny was biking near Oldmans Township, New Jersey with his 29-year-old brother, Matthew, who was also struck and killed in the accident.
Gaudreau was the top forward for Columbus, and had been recognized as an All-Star multiple times throughout his storied career. And early this morning, the team posted a heartbreaking tribute to their fallen teammate:

Gaudreau leaves behind his wife, Meredith, and his two children Noa and Johnny. Needless to say, the NHL world and the sports world at large has been devastated by the news. Especially since it appears that Johnny and his brother Matthew were set to be groomsmen in their sister's wedding, which was to take place tonight in Philadelphia.
It's one of the saddest and most painful stories that's come out of sports in quite some time, and tributes are pouring in on social media in remembrance of a hockey star who had so much life left to live - both on and off the ice.
