![Scottie Scheffler]()
One of us! One of us! OK not really. Scottie Scheffler's maddening consistency as a ball-striker despite his Slip N' Slide footwork is legitimately the Eighth Wonder of the World. Surely the guy is gonna come crashing back to Earth at some point, right?
Nah. Just kidding, Scottie. I doubt it at least. Hardened by the adversity of
getting arrested during a major championship, only to rally and
win a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics among other prestigious tournaments, there ain't nothing you can't do, sir.
All that said, for someone who presents such a warm, calm demeanor, is clearly a family-oriented, God-fearing fellow, and has his head on rather straight for a World No. 1 golfer, it was shocking to see Scottie blow his top in Friday's second round of the BMW Championship. You'd expect Scottie to plum for, "Oh good gosh golly!" or, "Dag-gummit, Scottie!" before resorting to an F-bomb. But oh, the plot thickens!
After plunking a shot into the water, Scheffler tried to wedge onto the green from the drop area on the par-4 10th hole at Colorado's Castle Pines Golf Club. Let's just say it didn't go according to plan.
Scottie couldn't believe the ball took off the way it did onto the back fringe, insisting that he must've had the correct yardage and made the proper contact to get close enough to the hole and save bogey. Instead, as he strode up toward the green for an eventual double bogey, we had him yelling quite loudly at his caddie in stunned disbelief before saying, "What the f**k!? That's impossible!"

This isn't meant to drag Scottie during a low moment, or to make an example out of how even the most wholesome among us isn't immune to spouting off some foul language on the course. If anything, Scottie is more relatable when he reacts this way. If any superstar could use a little more of a
John Daly-style edge to him, it's Scottie Scheffler. The arrest at the PGA Championship might've taken care of that for good. I say, bring on any which way Scottie can be more relatable, marketable, and common-man weekend warrior golfer-accessible.
As of this time, Scottie is a full 13 strokes behind BMW Championship leader Adam Scott, but still comfortably ahead in the FedEx Cup point standings. It'd be tough to stay locked in under those circumstances. Scottie is going to get a comfy head start at The Tour Championship as the FedEx Cup leader. That's when the really massive money is on the line. And it's where Scottie has a shot to cap off a straight-up legendary season with another victory. For this week, it's a matter of finishing strong and getting a touch of momentum to go into East Lake with some good vibes. I'm confident he'll accomplish that on the weekend.
Gotta share some of the reactions to finish this thing off. Pretty funny stuff.

In other news, the cop who conveniently didn't turn on his body cam while arresting Scottie in Louisville just got pinched on his own criminal shenanigans...
Justice for Scottie.
